Studying the generation process of court records, it suggests that popular Chilean families performed a complex learning in relation to a state institution. Seventy qualitatively analyzed court records called variously as “food”, “alimony” or “food allowance”. In the complete development of a case observed different mechanisms and strategies used by different family to get justice and, at the same time teaching them how to engage with a state bureaucracy in full implementation.
